Demarce Woodard Craven, 72, passed away on March 3, 2014 at a local hospital in Colorado Springs. Demarce was born on August 21, 1941 in Trent, Texas. She was the fourth of six children born to the late John A. and Remelle (Linebarger) Woodard.
Demarce spent most of her adult life as an Air Force wife; living in various states and in Europe. She enjoyed the challenges of new places and new faces, but fell in love with the Colorado mountains and enjoyed the years spent here more than any other place. Demarce held several jobs throughout her life, but her favorite titles were “Grandma” and “Nana Marcy.”
Demarce is survived by her husband, John W. Craven; children: Treese R. (Christopher) Kjeldsen of Colorado Springs and Steven L. Wann of Sweetwater, Texas; beloved grandchildren: Steven D. (Tina) Wann of Texas, Dana and Kitty Kjeldsen of Colorado Springs and great grandson Blake Wann of Texas. She is also survived by her brother, John G. Woodard of Tyler, Texas and sister, Jouette Ellis of Tomball, Texas; stepchildren: Christina Philpy of Denver and John H. Craven of Colorado Springs; stepgranddaughter, Elizabeth (J.J.) Williams and their two daughters, Genevieve and Anneliese, all of Denver as well as several nieces and nephews in Texas and Georgia. She is preceded in death by her sisters: Alta Berry and Margaret Langford and her brother, Robert Woodard.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Demarce’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
