Denver Russell Bolster, Sr., age 90, passed away at his home on July 22, 2016. Denver was a resident of Colorado Springs for 33 years. He served in the Army Air Corps, converted to the USAF, and retired as CMSGT after years of active duty.
Denver was born on January 14, 1926 to Harry and Susy Bolster in Barberton, Ohio. On October 11, 1944, he married his grade school sweetheart, Dorothy Wallace, in Anniston, Alabama.
Denver’s hobbies included dancing, fishing, gambling, and woodworking. He was also fond of the performing arts having performed in numerous plays. He was a member and former president of the Lions Club International. He was class president of Antelope Valley Community College.
Denver loved to travel. Some of his favorite places were the Philippines and Germany. He particularly loved Europe, especially Spain and the Spanish Riviera.
He is survived by his sons – Denver Bolster, Jr. and Larry Bolster (Jackie Bolster), five grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years and his daughter, Lonnie Bell (Gus Bell).
Denver was a kind hearted man, had a smile to share and loved everyone that came into this life. He made you feel like family as soon as you met him. Most everyone knew him as ‘Papa’, but he was always young at heart.
A memorial service will be held at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Thursday, July 28 at 10am. A reception will immediately follow at the family residence.
