Dewey Ashford Dwyer Jr.

Longtime Colorado Springs resident Dewey (Duke) Dwyer Jr. passed away peacefully at the young age of 82 on March 13, 2013.
Duke was born in Buffalo, Wyoming on the family ranch and later moved with his family to Monroe, Wisconsin. When he became of age he joined the United States Air Force and retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service. During that time he met the love of his life Dorothy DeRidder and was married on October 24, 1953 in Raton, New Mexico. They were getting ready to celebrate their 60th Anniversary in October. After retiring from the Air Force, Duke owned his own electronic business for 20 years. He volunteered for 37 years at the Peterson Air Force Retiree’s Activities office. He was also a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the “The Legion of Honor”. He loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping with his friends and family.
He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Dwyer; his brother and sister Dave and Ruth; his two sons Bob and Ron; his three grandchildren Leanne, Joshua, and Nathan; his two great grandchildren McKenzie and Jacob.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Gateway Presbyterian Church at 731 Castle Road, Colorado Springs. Rev. David Markwalder will be officiating for the service and Chaplin Bret Aston of the Masonic Lodge of Manitou Springs will have a small Masonic service.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Dewey Dwyer Jr. to either the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City or to Gateway Presbyterian Church.
