Diane Elizabeth Benbow, 70, of Colorado Springs, passed away on January 29, 2017. She was born on October 21, 1946, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Bill and Maxine (Keithly) Masure. As the daughter of an Air Force officer, she lived in many different places, including Denver, Colorado; Yakota, Japan; and Lompoc and San Diego, California. She graduated from Clairemont High School in San Diego, California and attended the University of Tulsa before joining her family in Colorado Springs, where she attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Meeting on a blind date in front of the Antlers Hotel, she found her husband of 45 years, Horace S. “Ben” Benbow. As a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, she raised their three children. Diane was a member of Holy Apostles Church Catholic Church. She was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed knitting, and crocheting, and providing home cooked meals for family and friends. Always welcoming, Diane made friends easily and touched the lives of many people with her kindness and courage.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Ben; children: Bryan Benbow, Zachary Benbow, and Elizabeth (Michael) Ramos; two grandchildren: Madison and Sophia Ramos; uncle, David Keithly and aunts: Nancy and Aliece Keithly; and sister, Susan Kirk. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, February, 3, 2017 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Diane’s name to Colorado Japanese Chin Rescue, PO Box 470533, Aurora, CO 80047.
