Dixie Lyn Cole, born on August 16, 1943, to Ed and Laura Cole in Amarillo, Texas, was 81 years old when she passed away on October 7, 2024. She formerly lived in Colorado Springs. In 2005, she retired as a teller with Air Academy National Bank, where she enjoyed serving the cadets and other members of the armed forces. After she retired, she helped care for her aunt, Jean, in Pueblo, Colorado, and continued to live there with her other cousins after her aunt passed away.
Dixie was fond of visiting museums, drawing, coloring, cross-stitch, crocheting, singing in the church choir and barber shop quartet, cheeseburgers, and Dr. Who. She loved animals and would often sit on the edge of her chair rather than move the animal sitting there. She became a member of the Colorado Springs Corpus Christi Catholic Church in 1995. Over the years she spent many days walking with the members of her church in an effort to prevent abortions.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents Ed and Laura Cole, and her brother Randy Cole. She is survived by her cousins. She will be laid to rest in the Ethel Merman Columbarium at Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, within steps of her mother.
In lieu of flowers or cards, members of her family request that donations in her name be made to any local religious organization or Sangre de Christo Hospice.
