Donald A. Dixon, age 52, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1989 and formerly of Axton Virginia, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer November 17, 2013.He was a retired Disabled American Veteran and Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
Donald was born on January 24, 1961 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late S.A. Dixon and Kate Hairston Dixon. He served his country honorably during the Gulf War. He married Karen Marie Martinez on November 19, 1997 in Colorado Springs. He was a 1979 graduate of Laurel Park High School in Martinsville, Virginia. He received his degree in Electronics Engineering Technology and Business/Accounting in Colorado Springs from Colorado Technical University.
At an early age, Donald became a member of the Moral Hill Baptist Church in Axton, Virginia. He later joined Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. He enjoyed family, friends, and the freedom of being retired. He will always be remembered for his smile, kindness, generosity, and dedication in loving, protecting, and providing for his family.
Donald leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife: Karen; his stepson: Antonio Ortiz; his stepdaughter: Anjelica Ortiz, four grandchildren: Anjelo, Nevaeh, Aurelo, and Shalyze of Colorado Springs, Colorado, four sisters: Linda (Peter) Watson of Dallas, Texas, Judy (Walter) Gravely of Martinsville, Virginia; Margie (David) Evans of Lorton, Virginia; Eliza (Thurman) Smith of Richmond, Virginia; three brothers: Harden (Karen) Jamison of Maui, Hawaii; Ronnie (Wanda) Dixon and Francis Dixon of Axton, Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. Dominic Catholic Church 5354 S. Highway 85/87, Security, Colorado 80911. Entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.
