Donald “Wayne” Basinger, age 83 years, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 29 years and was formerly a resident of Lansing, MI. He was retired, and previously a factory worker for Wohlert Corporation in Lansing, MI.
Donald Wayne Basinger was born on March 6, 1932 to Donald Paul Basinger and Ada (Malkin) Lord in Lansing, MI. On July 4, 1974 he married May (Heikka) Garey in Lansing, MI. Wayne enjoyed walking his dog Buddy and enjoyed witnessing for Christ to whomever and wherever he was at. He was a member of Eastborough Nazarene Church, Colorado Springs, CO and attended Laingsburg High School, Laingsburg, MI and graduated in 1953. He served in the United States Navy, for 4 years during the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife May Basinger; his children: Donald W. Basinger Jr., Janene Garey, Kenton Garey; his grandchildren: Nicolette Basinger, Rockelle Lienhart, Joseph Garey-Webster, Nathan Garey; and his great-grandchildren: Kayla Harrison, Kaiden Harrison, and Ayden Garey-Webster He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother, and a son.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10th at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene, 4123 E Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Scattering will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Rose Gardens. A reception will be held following the Memorial Service at Eastborough Nazarene Church.
Memorials in Wayne Basinger’s name may be made to the Voice of the Truth, PO Box 15013, Colorado Springs, CO 80935-5013 in lieu of flowers; where he volunteered for 25 years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
