Donald Buckman Walls

Donald Buckman Walls, 78 years of age, passed away on December 18, 2014. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 50 years and was formerly a resident of North Carolina.

Donald was born on August 15, 1936 to Thurman and Mary (Lewis) Walls in Blounts Creek, North Carolina. On December 28, 1955 he married Nancy Lou Leggett in Washington, North Carolina.

Donald joined the Air Force at age 17, with his parents’ approval, and served our country for 12 ½ years. He then worked a Civil Service job at Fort Carson, furthering his education and earning a business degree. Don retired after 33 years only to start his own business as a locksmith.

Donald enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. He also had an eagerness for knowledge and never passed an opportunity to research and learn about anything. Upon accepting the Lord, he had a passion for studying and understanding God’s Word.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, of 59 years; his children: Ondré, Donnie, and Sharon; his siblings: Mary Francis, Carolynn, June, and Myrna; and his grandchildren: Lori, Clayton, Katie, Steven, and Cody. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cherl; and his parents, Thurman and Mary Walls.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. There will be a private service for the family.

Memorials in Donald’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
