Donald Edward Tebedo
March 24, 1934 – March 15, 2017
Don Tebedo of Colorado Springs, the youngest child of George Oliver and Ina Iona (Manchester) Tebedo, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of March 15, 2017. Congestive heart failure released him to his final reward. He was nine days shy of his 83rd birthday.
Born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, Don met and married the only woman in the world for him, MaryAnne Geivett. Wedded bliss commenced on December 27, 1954. Six children were born of this wedlock. Don was devoted to his Catholic faith and the Blessed Virgin Mary, which fashioned him into a steadfast and happy family man.
An early career as a charter pilot was followed by 30 years as an air traffic controller. He spent the majority of his career in Colorado Springs and retired as Tower Manager at Cheyenne. To keep busy after retiring, Don, known as The Begonia Baron, sold flowers. Later, he shuttled cars for Hertz. He enjoyed airplanes, travel, tennis, golf and the Broncos.
With Don, no day passed without a good laugh. His wit and humor truly defined the man and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first child, Karen; brother “Bud”; grandson, Alan; and great granddaughter, Alora.
He is survived by wife of 62 years, MaryAnne; sister, Evelyn; sons: Kevin, Ronald and Thomas Tebedo; daughters: Linda June and Christine Ramirez; grandsons: Nathan, Paul, Adam and Philip Tebedo, Nicky, Daniel and Joseph Ramirez; granddaughters: Michelle Mercil, Hannah Ramirez and Kristin Tebedo; great grandchildren: Cayden, Corbin, Vincent, Ryker and Brevin; plus beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins.
