SFC Donald Morris, United States Army, Retired, age 81, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1992 and previously of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at his home in Colorado Springs. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a U.S. Army Retiree, and served 10 years in the U.S. Civil Service at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Donald Morris was born on February 15, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Edward George and Frances Eleanor (Bell) Morris. After high school, he served in the United States Navy and then began his career with the United States Army. He married Paula Kogler on December 9, 1965 in Heilbronn, Germany. He was a decorated veteran, a devoted husband, a loving father, and the rock of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paula; three daughters: Marianne Thompson; Carrol Morris; and Theresia Melter, all of Rome, Georgia. He has six grandchildren: Dean, Jennifer, Tanya, Tasha, Brandy and Christina; four great grandchildren: Jenna, Andrew, Shelbie and Bree.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to Chuck and Ann Maerten, Jan Chenoweth and Cheryl Dunwell for being there in our time of need.
