Donald Wayne Thomas, age 84, passed away on March 2, 2022, in Colorado Springs. He was born March 6, 1937, in Lake City, Arkansas. Donald was raised in Arkansas and graduated from Gosnell High School. 0n April 11, 1963, Donald married the love of his life, Jae Soon Lee, in Seoul, Korea. He later lived in Junction City, Kansas, then became a resident of Colorado Springs in the 1980s.
Donald was retired from the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He more recently worked in the Ft. Carson Commissary and was privileged to serve several times as head bagger. Throughout his life, Donald enjoyed working on cars, traveling, and spending time with his family. He also appreciated an occasional trip to his favorite casino in Cripple Creek, Colorado.
Donald is survived by his brother-in-law, Jae Lee (Hong, Donald), and sister-in-law, Jae (Lee) Hamline (Randy, Michelle), several nieces and nephews (Beverly, Troy, Dwight, Richard), and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jae Soon (Lee) Thomas, who died in 2015, and his two brothers and three sisters.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 am with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Given the current situation, the family requests that guests wear a mask to attend. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
