Doris Jeanne Elbert, 98, passed away on August 25, 2024. She had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1958.
Doris was born on March 23, 1926 in Elyria, Ohio to Ira Burton Todd and Inez Lynn Robinson. She married Edwin Joseph Elbert in 1947. They were married for 72 years.
Doris was a caring and dedicated nurse, retiring from Penrose Hospital in 1996.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Elbert, and her son-in-law, Erni McMullen.
She is survived by her children: Larry Elbert (Alice) and Anne Elbert McMullen; her grandchildren: Tracy Thomas, Deborah Patterson (Jeff), Jared McMullen (Michelle), Brian McMullen (Lindsay Johnson), and Erin Schmelzer (Sven); great grandchildren: Alex Young, Phillip Thomas, Alhanna Thomas, Caitlyn Thomas, Mia Johnson, Keira Schmelzer, and Tatjana Schmelzer; and great great granddaughter, Celeste Thomas.
A funeral service will be held on September 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home.
