Dorothy Byrd Ventimiglia, age 92, passed away on July 23rd, 2021. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 85 years and moved to Colorado from Kentucky when she was 7 years old. She was a dedicated wife and mother.
Dorothy was born on November 28, 1928, to Lushion Edward Winters Sr. and Tennie (Byrd) Winters in Louisville, Kentucky. On October 22, 1949, she married John M. Ventimiglia in Arvada, Colorado.
Dottie was fond of sewing, watching baseball, football and tennis. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, bridge, and jigsaw puzzles. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church for several years and attended Colorado Springs High School later known as William J. Palmer High School and graduated in 1947.
She is survived by her children: Mark S. Winters; Matthew P. Ventimiglia; Holly J. McMahon (Chris); her grandchildren: Erin McMahon, Evan McMahon, Rachel Ventimiglia and Danielle Ventimiglia; and her great-grandchildren: Saffron Estrada, Russell Estrada, Sage Lousignot and Wolf Lousignot. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Barbara J. Ventimiglia; her sisters: Juanita Moore, Jean Stevenson and Louise Jones; her brothers: Richard Winters, Lushion E. Winters, Jr., and Kenneth G. Winters.
A graveside service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, August 4th, at Fairview Cemetery located at 1000 South 26th Street, Colorado Springs. Due to Covid precautions there will be no reception.
