Dorothy Elaine Miller, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. She was born in Albert Lee, Minnesota April 25, 1925, to the late Alfred and Alma Stensrud. She had seven brothers Stanton (deceased), Robert (deceased) PHD Donald (deceased), Lyle of Minneapolis, Minnesota, PHD Richard of Mesa, Arizona, PHD Howard of Chico, California, and Alan of Mesa, Arizona, and one sister, Lorraine Johnson (deceased). She graduated from North High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she met her husband, Norman.
Dorothy was a military wife for over 25 years and took care of her family at many posts in the United States, Germany, and Taiwan. She traveled all over Europe and the Pacific perimeter. She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her time at Ruth’s Circle.
As a high school student during WWII, she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank typing US War Bonds. She enjoyed her work of ten years at the Monmouth County NJ Boy Scouts of America, and working at the summer camps.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Miller; daughters, Cheryl Imboden (Durant) Minneapolis, Minnesota, Linda Hornung (James) Encinitas, California; son, James Miller (Nancy) Coronado, California; grandchildren: Cedar (Andrew) Phillips, Thatcher (Melisa) Imboden, Anders Imboden (Nith), Sage (Kristen) Hornung, Sierra Hornung, and Travis Hornung; and great grandchildren: Jackson Philips, Azalea Imboden, Ashford Imboden, and Stella Hornung.
Dorothy chose Colorado Springs for their retirement area in 1977, after driving their motor home through all forty-eight states and Canada.
Services will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2505 North Circle Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
