Dorothy Lou “Dottie” Carneal

Dottie Pry was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from South High School in 1948, and attended CU, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Dottie married Carroll Rice and they had one son, Bill. Dottie worked for many years in a law office in Denver where she made lifelong friends.
Dottie married John Robert Carneal in 1965, and together they worked and lived in Colorado as Bob pursued a 35 year career with IBM. After Bob’s retirement from IBM, they started a business in the hotel and laundromat industries, travelled extensively and eventually settled in Colorado Springs.
In recent years, Dottie was an avid reader of books and newspapers, especially the Denver Post. She was well-read about current events, politics, and new technologies, and was always good dinner company discussing these. Bob and Dottie loved dogs. Dottie also loved participating in the Front Range Football Pool. She was the neighbor around whom the neighborhood revolved, and the beloved friend of her professional caregivers and many others. A former co-worker from the law office said it best: “Dottie was the best friend I ever had”.
Dottie will be missed and remembered by her family, friends, neighbors and caregivers for her compassion, intelligence and humor.
Dottie is survived by her six nieces and two nephews, and her beloved dog, Maddie. She is preceded in death by her mother Mildred, father Verlin Pry, husband Bob, and son, Bill Rice.
