Dr. Lawrence Francis McAtee
Grandfather, father, and brother: Dr. Lawrence F. McAtee, 67, was taken from this world on March 30th, 2017 after a brief struggle with cancer. Larry relocated to Canon City in 2002 to begin his retirement in Colorado. He is survived by his siblings: Jim, Ray, Steve, Marie, Helen and Sharon; his children and step-children: Don, Ariel, Larry Jr., Jennifer, and Jason; and many grandchildren.
Larry was born in Washington, Indiana on March 16th, 1950 to H. Joseph and E. Catherine (Nolan) McAtee, who preceded him in death, along with his spouse, Maureen, and brother, Don.
Prior to his doctoral work, Larry helped keep the peace at the Berlin Wall for the U.S. Army as part of the NATO Firewall. After graduating from Indiana University in 1980, “Doc” also served in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Captain. He operated a family dental practice in Loogootee, Indiana before retiring to Colorado.
A memorial service is planned for April 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
