Duanne “Dewey” Padilla, 54, passed away on December 15, 2016 peacefully in his sleep. Dewey was born on October 5, 1962 in Colorado Springs to the late Carmel and Lillian (Schneider) Padilla. After attending high school in Fountain/Fort Carson, Dewey worked for several years as a construction worker.

Dewey’s unique sense of humor and infinite love for family will always be remembered. A native of Colorado, he embraced full-heartedly the majesty and her landscape. Dewey shared the “red state” with his daughters through road trips to campgrounds and fishing spots that the family shared for many generations. He also maintained a vegetable garden with his father on the homestead until his health interfered. Dewey was a BIG PICTURE kind of guy. His philosophy could be described as putting family first and focusing on “the bare necessities of life.”

Dewey is survived by his four daughters: Tamra Padilla (Jason Heussy) and Chastity Padilla (Ryan Cincotta) all of Aiken, South Carolina, Erin (Caulan) Brooks of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Kimalea McDivitt (Jason Taylor) of Ozark, Missouri. Papa ‘Wayne’s legacy also lives on through his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (William) Pennington and his brother, Christopher (Mariah) Padilla. Dewey also leaves behind his sweetheart, Bonnie Robinson and her family. They shared many years and laughs together. He was preceded in death by three brothers: George, Abdon and Robert Padilla.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inquiries may be made by contacting local relatives on Facebook via Duanne’s page.
