Eleanor Tutt McColl
May 13, 1933 – February 20, 2016

Eleanor Tutt McColl, lifetime resident of Colorado Springs, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 20, 2016. She was born in Colorado Springs on May 13, 1933.

She graduated from The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, California. She attended Colorado College then graduated from the University of Southern California.

Ellie, as she was fondly known, married Jack Dale McColl in 1955 and was later divorced. She worked as a buyer for many years at A Short Story clothing store at the Broadmoor Hotel.

Ellie was the Pike’s Peak or Bust Rodeo’s Girl of the West in 1952. She was active in the Broadmoor Garden Club, Cheyenne Mountain Country Club, Broadmoor Golf Club, was chairman of the Broadmoor Ladies Golf Invitation for several years, served on the USGA’s Senior Woman’s Committee, and volunteered with many other organizations.

She was the daughter of the late William Thayer Tutt and Margaret Timmons Tutt. She is survived by daughters: Connie of Denver, CO and Tracy of Tucson, AZ, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and beloved dog, Sophie.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Country Club, Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellie’s memory may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation.
