Elfriede Cacilia Apostolides, age 77, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on November 13, 2016 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 39 years.

Elfriede was born to Josef and Karoline Melchiors on September 23, 1939 in Trier, Germany. On Aug 2, 1959 she married Christopher Michael Apostolides and enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage. Elfriede was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Everyone who knew her commented on how she had a very friendly and generous heart.

Elfriede was fond of cooking and baking and was a lover of animals. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her friends. Elfriede was most happy when she got to spend time with her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher Apostolides; children: Michael Apostolides of Canon City, Colorado, Patricia Crabill (Aaron) of Conway, South Carolina, Joann Fix (Phil) of Ellicott, Colorado; grandchildren: Chris (Cami) Apostolides, AnnMarie Apostolides, Jennifer (Howard) Crosco, Sabrina (Stu) Edgecomb, Conner Fix, Sierra Fix; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. A reception will be held following the service at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.
