Elizabeth “Bette” Morledge Woodard
Elizabeth “Bette” Morledge Woodard went to be with her Lord January 19, 2013 at the age of 91, four months and 21 days.
Elizabeth was born August 29, 1921 in Clayton, New Mexico and was known to many as Bette. She was the youngest daughter of William Ralph and Ida Hillman Morledge. They lived at the Road Canyon Ranch in Kenton, Oklahoma before moving to the Rockledge Ranch outside of Clayton, New Mexico. Elizabeth graduated from Clayton High School in May of 1939. She attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. She had a practice in Dumas, Texas for a couple of years.
She married Master Sergeant R.B. Woodard on August 5, 1950 at Rockledge Ranch. They were stationed at various bases in the United States and also spent two years overseas in Belgium. In the years following their marriage, they had two children Ralph Byron and Deborah. Upon retirement from the Army they lived in California two years before R.B. returned to the service in the Air Force where he retired November 1, 1966 with a medical discharge due to his health. They settled in Monument, Colorado and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she lived until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Maxine Doitchinoff and husband Dotchin, Dorothy Watters and husband William; and a brother born dead. She is survived by her children: son Ralph Byron Woodard, daughter Deborah Termin and husband Paul; granddaughter Jennifer Termin; and several nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth worked many elections as an election judge and at other jobs but mostly was a devoted mother and wife. She will be missed for her kindness and caring of others by many.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. Private services will be held in Clayton, New Mexico in the spring.
