Ellen Ulmer

Ellen Ulmer passed away on March 20, 2018 in Darmstadt, Germany surrounded by her husband, son, and German family. She was born May 7, 1943 in Darmstadt, Germany to her parents, Walter and Christine (Olf) Heiser. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Stephen Charles Ulmer.
Ellen was active over the years volunteering for Air Force Family Services, American Red Cross, and The Mount Hospice. She was a member or the Austrian-American Enzian Club for 23 years.
She was the ideal Air Force wife, moving 29 times around the world in 36 years of her husband’s Active Duty service and never complaining.
Ellen is survived by her soulmate for the past 58 years, her husband, Col. (Ret.) Charles H. Ulmer; a son, Gregory (wife Delaine) Ulmer; grandson, Aiden Steven Ulmer; sister, Gisela Schmitt; brother, Rupert (Karin) Heiser; and nephews and a niece in Germany.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. A reception will be held in her memory immediately after the service at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Ellen’s name to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
Interment will take place later once the Pikes Peak National Cemetery opens.
