Else Foyer, 53, passed away at home on February 14, 2017 surrounded by her husband, sons, and mother. She was a part-time resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for over twenty years.

Else was born on June 10, 1963 to Jens and Edith Simonsen in Knudstrup, Denmark, a farming community in western Denmark. Else also lived in Minnesota, California, the Netherlands, Germany, Dubai, and Japan. She was a proud mother and regular volunteer at their schools. She taught her sons how to play soccer. She took up baseball and became a coach for the Dubai Little League.

Else was an avid world-traveler along with her husband. In 1992 they rode the Trans- Siberian Express from Moscow to Beijing and then completed the around-the-world tour by train and airplane. She loved golf and making life-long friends through the sport. She was a member of the Broadmoor Golf Club, the La Quinta Country Club in California and the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai. She was a jazz music and movie fan and regularly attended festivals and concerts.

She began her work life at Urtekram in Denmark working directly for the company’s CEO. After having children, she worked at Quest International and at Nike Europe HQ in the Netherlands.

Else was proud of her Danish heritage and was quick to seek out other Danes wherever she lived. She was a proud member of the Danish American Center in Minnesota. Else loved being a wife, mother, and friend to many people around the world. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Foyer; her sons: Jens and Christian Foyer; half-daughter: Stephanie Foyer; half-son: Tommy Foyer; mother: Edith Simonsen; brother: Henrik (wife Lene Lausten) Simonsen; sister: Anni (husband Arne) Simonsen-Lauritsen. She was preceded in death by her father, Jens Simonsen; her in-laws: Owen and Frances Finnegan (Tom’s parents); and Thomas G. Foyer (Tom’s father); and grandparents: Magnus and Agnes Simonsen; and Svend Aage and Mary Jensen.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, at the Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel with a reception to follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs.
