Emery R. Rivera
Emery R. Rivera, age 89, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at his home. He was a retired metallurgist with the Joy Manufacturing Company. In his retirement for more than 25 years, he was a starter for the USAFA Eisenhower Golf Course. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Emery Richard Rivera was born on October 12, 1923 in Costilla, New Mexico to the late Manuel and Estifania (Vigil) Rivera. He graduated from Blanca High School and Adams State University. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of the VFW. He married Lois Dyke on November 2, 1979 in Colorado Springs. Lois passed away on August 28, 2011.
He is survived by his children: Richard (Bobbi) Rivera of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Nora “Arlene” (Merv) Casey; Gary (Judy) Baker; Joy (Casey) Crockett; and Alicia (Mike) Morley, all of Colorado Springs; and a host of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Rivera, in 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels. A reception will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Radiant Church Fellowship Hall, 4020 Maizeland Road.
