Emma “Colleen” Deckard, 78, of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 2, 2014 at a local care center with her daughters by her side. Colleen was born on January 15, 1936 in Crowley, Louisiana to the late James and Hazel (Boulet) Robbins. Colleen graduated from high school and resided in Crowley, Louisiana until she married her beloved husband, Elvin “Lewis” Deckard on May 26, 1956. Colleen will be remembered for being a wonderful homemaker, loving mother and supportive wife while her husband served in the United States Air Force for 27 years.
Colleen enjoyed providing children who visited her with candy and toys and decorating for all holidays. She liked to paint mountain scenes and play bingo with her friends. She was known for her feisty personality and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Colleen is survived by her daughters: Kathleen Deckard and Robin Newman; granddaughters: Sarah Newman and Lauren Newman; as well as her great grandsons (Sarah’s children: Ty and Chase.) She is also survived by several extended family members in Texas and Louisiana. Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis in 2012, her son Lewis Howard Deckard and her brother, James Robbins.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area “A.”
