Emma Timora, age 86, native of Colorado, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, homemaker and friend.
Emma Louise Murin was born on April 10, 1927 in Ramah, Colorado to the late John and Sophie (Oliska) Murin. She was Eastern Orthodox. Emma attended schools in Ramah and worked on the family farm while growing up. Her father affectionately nicknamed her “Momka.” She later married Fred Timora on October 14, 1947 in Kiowa County. She and Fred lived in Pueblo, Colorado for a short time prior to moving to Colorado Springs in 1949. Emma and Fred raised their family in Colorado Springs. She worked for a short time at Meadow Gold and Pearl Laundry in Colorado Springs. Emma enjoyed gardening in her yard, baking, canning, puzzles and watching the Polka Club program on television. Emma will be best remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Tim Timora; her daughter, Rose Timora, both of Colorado Springs; her sisters, Susie Mikita and Margie Mikita, both of Calhan; her sister-in-law, Delma Payne of Colorado Springs; her devoted and loyal friend, Peter Gyza, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sophie Murin, her husband, Fred on May 10, 1980, her two brothers, seven sisters, nieces and nephews.
A Parastasis Service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Chapel with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. V. Rev. James Jadick, Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville, Pennsylvania and Fr. Dennis Shutte, Proistamenos, Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado, will officiate at both services. A luncheon reception will then be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Boulevard.
