Erna M. Tacheny, age 90, passed away on July 23, 2023. Erna and Bob were residents of Colorado Springs, Colorado for many decades. Colorado Springs was their home base throughout Bob’s 22-year military career.
Erna was born to Johann and Kunigunde Bastian. She married her “forever” sweetheart, Bob, on August 27, 1957, in Germany. For 66 years, up until her final breath, they were still holding hands.
After Bob retired from the Army in 1976, Erna and Bob enjoyed traveling and were also snowbirds, living between Colorado Springs and Tucson, Arizona. They enjoyed daily walks and made new friends along the way. They enjoyed “working out” and ranked #2 and #3 of the Top 25 members, by Fitpoints earned, at Ft. Carson Mountain Post Wellness Center during the period of March 1, 2007, through July 25, ongoing. Although Erna walked and worked out many times while in pain, she always said she will do it because one day she won’t be able to due to her decades of pain.
Erna loved her children: Robbie, Mary, Steve (Sheila), Pat (Doug), and Cindy (Roger). Erna and Bob loved and spoiled their 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and their 1 great-great-grandchild.
Erna was preceded in death by her son, Robbie; and her great-grandchildren: Brandon, Andrew, and AdreAnna.
It is a blessing and an honor to have had Erna in our lives and she will be forever loved and missed!!!
We love you Mom “to the moon and back”.
A Visitation will be held for Erna at 9:00AM, immediately followed by a Funeral Service will be held for Erna at 10AM, Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
