Ethel Elinor Lane (Sanderson), age 88, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Ethel was born on December 27, 1932, in Colorado Springs to her mother Aline and her father Olaf Sanderson, both deceased.
Ethel attended Colorado Springs High School- now Palmer High School- graduating in 1951. She then attended Colorado State College of Education- now the University of Northern Colorado- graduating in 1955. She returned home to marry Raymond “Ray” Lane in August of 1955. She taught at the Adult Education Center in Colorado Springs from 1969-1986 where she helped countless students to obtain their GED’s.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will always be remembered as “Gran” to her family.
Ethel was an enthusiastic Denver Broncos fan, spending Sundays rooting for the team, even in the bad years, and thoroughly enjoying their success. She was an avid reader, listening to her talking books, cross-stitching, and babysitting her five grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Mark Lane, Laura Elgner, Cynthia (Donald) Benson and John (Jodie) Lane; sisters, Marie Sanderson, and Ann Jampole; grandchildren, Kenneth Benson, Samantha Hagan, Alyssa Wells and Alexander Lane as well as great grandchildren, Reily and Michael Hagan, Andrew and Taylin Wells and Riker Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Lane, daughter Becky Lane and granddaughter, Megan Lane.
She will be greatly missed.
