April 19, 1936 – December 17, 2022
Ethel Yvonne Kunau of Rush, Colorado, was born on April 19, 1936 to Walter and Florence (Cooper) Swedhin in the small mountain town of Buena Vista, Colorado. She was born at home with her dad being the “deliverance doctor.”
In 1941 the family moved to Rocky Ford, Colorado, where she spent the rest of her “growing up” days. Yvonne’s family moved multiple times, but her favorite place was the “West Ranch.”
She later met Dale Kunau of Rush, Colorado, and they were married on March 10, 1957. They resided on Dale’s grandparents’ homestead land until 1963. Then they moved a half a mile north to the current family home where she lived until she went home to be with the Lord!
Yvonne received Christ in her life in March of 1955, and taught Sunday school for many years.
She was well known for her donuts and cinnamon rolls while her kids were in high school, as she provided them for the games at Miami High School.
Yvonne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Yvonne went home to be with the Lord on December 17th, 2022.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and daughter, Juanita. She is survived by her children: Loren of Rush, CO, Carol Wright and husband, Christopher, of Falcon, CO, and Marvin of Rush, CO; as well as five grandchildren: Jason, Brad, Angela, Stacey, and Leah, and six great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Kendrick Bible Church, 2985 Co Rd K, Rush, CO 80833. Interment will follow at the Kendrick Community Cemetery in Rush.
