Eugene I. Harper, passed away on October 17, 2017. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 72 years and was formerly a resident of Peyton. He was the foreman of the Civil Engineering Division at the Air Force Academy.
Eugene was born on April 18, 1939 to Dewey and Violet (Langston) Harper in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On July 3, 1964, he married Emma Jane Sides in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Gene was fond of ham radio operation. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, photography and painting and had an appreciation for researching his family tree. He was a member of Rocky Mountain Calvary Church. He served in the United States Navy for four years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Emma; his children: Catherine, Stephanie and Pamela and husbands Bob, Rob and Kevin; his grandchildren: Mary, Brian, Jonathan, Joshua, Reggie, Sarah and Zack; and his great-grandchildren: Ezekiel, Lilliana, Britton and Alexander. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian; parents, Dewey and Violet; and siblings, Tom, Darwin and Bob.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A reception will be held following the service at Fargo’s Pizza, 2910 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
