Evelyn “Evie” B. Malott

Evelyn “Evie” B. Malott, age 88, of Colorado Springs died on December 28, 2017. Evie was born on October 5, 1929 to Richard and Mary Brownlee of St. Joseph, Missouri.
She was the youngest of six children who married the love of her life, Cary Malott, in Mission, Kansas on December 9, 1950. He was an Air Force pilot, and they lived all over the world during a 28-year adventure in the service. She loved being an Air Force wife. She made great friends at every new assignment before they finally retired to Colorado Springs in 1977. After retirement, Evie was an avid golfer who played “Team” with the Peterson AFB Ladies Golf Association, a wonderful travel companion who never shied away from the road less taken, and a phenomenal Nana who lovingly spoiled her grandchildren with amazing food and amazing hugs. She treasured her dear friends in her Bible Study Group, who helped her grow in the faith that sustained and nurtured her throughout her life.
Evie was the rock that provided a foundation upon which a loving family was built. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Cary Malott; brother, John Maurice Brownlee; her children, Rick (Deborah) Malott, Dave (Amy) Malott, and Laurie (Dave) Lahnert; five grandchildren, Jesse (Marilee) Malott, Kelly Malott, Stacey (Marcus) Affeldt, Tadd (Sarah) Lahnert, and Luke Lahnert; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin Malott and Finn Lahnert.
We all know that Evie is enjoying a heavenly round of golf with no bogies, no three-putts, and perfect weather, while still keeping a loving eye on her family between holes.
Evie’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel in Colorado Springs.
Memorial donations in Evie’s name may be made to Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, who provided compassionate, professional care to her during the final months of her life. Donations may be sent to 1115 Elkton Drive, Suite 301, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
