Evelyn Gentile, of Colorado Springs, passed away Friday morning, July 1, 2016.

Evelyn was born June 21, 1924 in Leominster, Massachusetts to Ben and Frances (Moore) Welvaert. She attended Leominster schools and graduated High School in Colorado Springs at the age of 59. She married Al Gentile on February 8, 1941 in Greenfield, Massachusetts. After Al’s retirement, they moved to Colorado Springs in 1976 to be with their family.

Evelyn began working as a hostess at the family owned Bear and Albino Restaurant and The Tam O’shanter, retiring at the age of 72.

She has been the rock of our family and will be truly missed.

She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, especially with the family. She also loved to watch her favorite baseball team, The Boston Red Sox.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Al; daughter, Ann Marie Smith; and 3 brothers.

Survivors include a son, Pete (Wanda) Gentile; a daughter, Kay (Scott) Smith; a sister, Joyce Hunter; 9 grandchildren: Randy, Steve and James Bourgeois, Brenda Benfeito, Bonnie Johnson, Bev Martin, Scott Smith, Jr., Styles Smith, and Sheryl Smith.; 16 great grandchildren; and 12 great great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Shrine of Remembrance Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs.
