Fern O’Neill, age 86, a resident of Colorado Springs since 2006 and formerly of Pensacola, Florida; San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington; Phoenix and Taylor, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at her home in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Fern Kartchner was born on November 8, 1925 in Taylor, Arizona to the late Byrtle and Emma (McCleve) Kartchner. She was a 1943 graduate of Taylor High School. She married, worked as a waitress, and raised her children. She loved airplanes and was a former pilot and machinist. She enjoyed roses, gardening, and had a “green thumb.” She will be best remembered for her love of family, her sense of humor, and she loved everyone just as they were.

She is survived by four children: Peg O’Neill of Colorado Springs; Patty (and John) Rodemoyer of Pensacola; Harry O’Neill; and Charlene Long of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Mildred Rhoton of Winslow, Arizona.

Fern was preceded in death by three children: Maureen Stent; Michael O’Neill; and Kerri Lake.

She will be deeply missed.
