Floyd A. Torres, age 67, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1967 and formerly of Pueblo, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Memorial Hospital. He was the owner of F.T. Sand and Gravel and worked with his wife in the family business for the last 28 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Floyd Albert Torres was born on June 20, 1945 in Pueblo, Colorado to the late Juan and Rosa (Vasquez) Torres. He was a graduate of Boys Town High School in Boys Town, Nebraska. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He married R. Lillian Trujillo on July 3, 1969 in Malibu, California. He loved running his business and working with his many customers, who soon became friends. He will be best remembered for his love of family and his generosity. He was a man of faith and regularly attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lil; his daughter, Amanda; grandson, Lenny; his brother, Ben (Wife, Frances) Torres, and his sister Lenore Ramirez of Riverside, California. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lenny Torres; and eight brothers and sisters: Jay Torres, Anna Lopez, Lats Torres, Bobby Torres, Chon Torres, Marcie Torres, Felix Torres, and George Torres.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 East Pikes Peak Avenue. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, 1706 Roselawn Road, Pueblo, Colorado 81006.
