Franca Leon-Guerrero, age 80, passed away on August 31, 2016. Originally from Italy, she was a resident of Colorado Springs for 46 years. A nurse in her home country, she was for the past many years a devoted homemaker and military wife.
Franca was born on June 13, 1936, to Angelo Forasacco and Lucia (Pedrina) Forasacco in Gazzo Padovano, Italy. On May 1, 1965, she married Vincente P. Leon-Guerrero of the United States Army.
Franca was a skilled gardener and enjoyed spending time in nature, especially tending to her birds with loving care. Known for her elegance, she also had an appreciation for art and music. She was a devout parishioner of Soldier’s Memorial Chapel for 46 years. Franca graduated from the Ministero Della Pubblica Istruzione in 1955 and the Croce Rossa Italiana Scuola Convitto Professionale per Infermiere in 1963.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vincente; her children: Giorgio, Sylvia, Angela and Lisa; her sisters: Lia, Riccardina and Vanna; and her grandchildren: Tyler, Lucas, Maya, Sierra and Galen. She was recently preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Giovanni Forasacco.
A Catholic vigil will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9th, 2016, at Soldier’s Memorial Chapel on Fort Carson Army Base, building 1500, 6333 Martinez Street. A Memorial Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. There will be a reception at 3:00 p.m. following the Mass. Franca will be interred in her family mausoleum in Italy. For non-military attendees, please allow at least 30 additional minutes to gain entrance to the post at the Visitor’s Center (Gate 1).
