Our beloved Francina “Fran” Galvin, 84, passed away on August 17, 2017. She was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1957. She was a homemaker, real estate agent, and most importantly, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Her survivors include: her loving husband, Jim; her children: Lance Galvin (spouse Jill) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Blake Galvin (spouse Susan) of Colorado Springs, and Stephanie “Renee” Galvin of Marionville, Missouri; 8 grandchildren: Korryn, Kendra, Trevor, Stephen, Taylor, William, Connor, and Kye; and 2 great-granddaughters, Selah and Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers: Scott, Bill, and Bob Agnew.
Fran was born on June 5, 1933 to Francis H. and Alice May (McGavran) Agnew. On December 8, 1951, she married Jim Galvin in Wichita, Kansas.
Fran graduated from East High School in Wichita, Kansas. At age 56, after raising her children, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in History and then completed 2 years of graduate studies at UCCS. Fran was a talented artist and history buff. She was very active in Bible Study Fellowship, a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Village 7 Presbyterian Church, and a life member of Gideon’s Auxiliary. The family would like to express a special thank you to Visiting Angels for their care and comfort of Fran over these last 3 years.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. August 21, 2017 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
