Frank A. De John, 89, passed away on August 22, 2017. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 22 years and was formerly a resident of Schenectady, New York. He was a vendor with Canteen Corporation for 40 years.
Frank was born on September 21, 1927 to John De John and Philomena (Landolfo) De John in Schenectady, New York. On September 5, 1948, he married Edna Mae Lake in Schenectady, New York and they were married for 53 years. On August 24, 2002, he married Edna M. Neiman and they were married for 14 years.
Frank was fond of hunting, fishing, bowling, golf & gardening. He also enjoyed collecting coins and had an appreciation for winemaking. He was a parishioner of St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. In 1947, he graduated from Nott Terrace High School in New York. He had served in the United States Navy for 2 years in WWII.
He is survived by his second wife Edna; his children: Frank, Gloria, Barbara, Joseph and Michelle; his sister, SueAnn Maloney; his 6 grandchildren: Holli, Sara, Antoinette, Nicholas, David and Gianni; and his 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Philomena De John; his wife, Edna Mae; and his siblings: Archie, Victor, Jean, and John.
A Vigil and Rosary will be held from 6:30pm-7:30pm on Friday, August 25 at St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church, 8755 Scarborough Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920. A Catholic Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 26 at St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church.
Per Frank’s wishes his American Flag honoring his WWII service will be given to the Knights of Columbus.
