Frank Anthony Gahren, Jr.
Frank A. Gahren, Jr., 87, passed away on July 26, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in New York City on November 27, 1925, and lived in upstate New York most of his life. He was the Manager of the General Accident Insurance Group in Syracuse, NY, before retiring to Fort Myers, FL where he played golf every day with his bride of 67 years, June (Lamb) Gahren.
Frank served in the US Navy in the Pacific theatre aboard the USS Atherton during WWII. Frank and June were married on December 29, 1945, and started their family in NYC. Frank was the first member of his family to attend college and graduated from Fordham University in 1953.
He is survived by his loving wife, June; his children, June Gahren and Joe Miller of Pineview, GA, Barbara and Tom Ryan, of Clinton, NY, Frank and Patti Gahren, of Colorado Springs, CO; his six grandchildren, Michael Ryan, of Clinton, NY, Michele Thompson of Greenville, SC, Matt Ryan of Saranac Lake, NY, Frank Gahren, Jr., of Denver, CO, Luke Gahren and Matt Gahren of Colorado Springs, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home located at 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. Frank’s niche will be blessed following the services at 11:30 a.m. at the Mount St. Francis Columbarium, 7665 Assisi Heights.

Frank modeled Micah 6:8 throughout his life. We will dearly miss our Pop-pop, but we are comforted with the knowledge that we will see him again.
