Gary Ray Hurt, 70, died Saturday, January 13, 2024, at UC Health Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO, from cancer. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, CO, for 51 years, formerly residing in Anaheim, California.
Gary was born in Long Beach, California, July 15, 1953, the oldest of two children of Romey and Berniece (Wentz) Hurt. On November 18, 1980, he married Linda Lou Clark in Las Vegas, Nevada. He attended primary school in Kansas and California and graduated from Valencia High School in Santa Clarita, California after which he chose to serve his country by joining the Army during the Vietnam conflict.
After leaving the Army, he received his Real Estate license. Within a couple of years he became a managing broker and established his own Real Estate company selling homes as well as property management.
He was happiest when he was on the water in his boat or riding his motorcycle. Fishing was also a favorite pastime. He spent many hours in his retirement helping his neighbors with repairs they needed help with.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; son, Jason and Jennifer Hurt, Monument, CO; son, Jeffrey and Jessica Hurt, Costa Mesa, California; grandchildren, Cameron and Lexi Hurt, Monument, CO.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mark.
The Visitation was held 1:00PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00PM Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Shrine of Remembrance, Colorado Springs, CO. with inurnment at the Shrine of Remembrance Old Glory Columbarium in their Veterans Honor Court with military honors provided by Fort Carson Army Funeral Detail and American Legion Post No. 209.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gary’s name to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
