George J. McKitrick, age 68, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1982, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at a local hospital. He was a retired machinist, loving husband, father, and friend.
George Joseph McKitrick was born on January 21, 1944 in Buffalo, New York to the late George F. and Mary I. (Cardin) McKitrick. He graduated from High School in Columbus, Nebraska and attended trade school in California. He was a member of the Central Colorado Chapter of the Iron Order Nation Motorcycle club. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, race cars, football, car restoration, and muscle cars. He was married on May 21, 2006 to Becky J. Johnson in the Garden of the Gods. Becky survives and lives in Colorado Springs.
George is also survived by his three sons: John (wife, Lisa) McKitrick of Mesa, Colorado; Christopher McKitrick of Colorado Springs; Jeremy (wife, Alonda) McKitrick of Phoenix, Arizona; and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Cremation is planned.
George will be best remembered for his attitude and his caring, loving heart. He will be deeply missed.
