George N. Argos, 88
March 13, 1928 to August 3, 2016

George N. Argos died Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Penrose Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care Unit. He was 88 years old.

George was born in Merkovouni (Tripoli), Greece, in 1928. The oldest of eight siblings, he worked at various jobs in Athens and studied violin as a young man.

In 1951, he left Greece and sailed to the United States in search of opportunity and a better life. Working briefly in Chicago and Denver, George settled in Colorado Springs. Later that year he began working at the Broadmoor Hotel where he stayed until 1964 when he bought the Park Café Tavern downtown. He later owned and operated the T-Gap Lounge and George’s Place until he retired in 2002.
In 1959, he married his wife of 57 years, Tina (Argos) Tasoulis. Together they had three children and five grandchildren.

George is survived by his wife, Tina; daughters; Dimitria Hurst and Nicki Renner; and a son, George Argos, Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Samantha, Ellory, William, Nathan and Nicole. He has three surviving siblings in Athens.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery followed by a reception at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
