Gerald “Jerry” Strauss, 86, passed away on March 10, 2017. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, for 56 years and was formerly a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a tradesman.
Jerry Strauss was born on June 16, 1930, to Lester and Eleanor (Strandt) Strauss, of Shawano, Wisconsin. On October 9, 1954, he married Dolores Rocha, in Mystic, Connecticut. Dolores “Dee” passed away on June 17, 2002.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had an appreciation for working with guns and reloading ammunition. Jerry attended Shawano High School, where he sang in the a cappella choir and was part of the oratory team, and graduated in 1948. Jerry served in the United States Navy for 4 years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; and 3 younger brothers: Doug, Ron and Les. He is survived by two of his younger brothers: Le Roy Strauss of Colorado Springs, and Mark Strauss of Florissant, Colorado; sisters-in-law: Jean Strauss of Montrose, Colorado, and Gloria Smith of Mystic, Connecticut; and multiple nieces and nephews: Dale (wife Debbie) Strauss, Gary (wife Susan) Strauss, Dawn (husband Dan) McMullan, Laurie Strauss, Trent Strauss, Shawn Strauss and Heather (husband Chris) Hulscher; along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910.
