Gerda M. Callihan, age 76, passed away on November 6, 2016. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 39 years.
Gerda was born on August 17, 1940 to Anton Spranger and Maria (Franz) Spranger in Pleinting, Germany. On August 10, 1961 she married Donald E. Callihan in Vilshofen, Germany.
Gerda was fond of baking. She also enjoyed calling bingo, playing Mahjong, line dancing and spending time with her friends. Gerda was most happy when she got to spend time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her children: Thomas E. Callihan (Jolene) of Fallon, Nevada, Birgit M. Tapia (Ron) of Killeen, Texas, Cynthia M. Braun (Ed) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Patricia A. Trujillo (Ray) of Winnemucca, Nevada; her sister, Erika Ortmeier of Kirchheim unter Teck, Germany; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald E. Callihan; her parents: Anton and Maria Spranger; and a brother, Gerhard Spranger.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on November 10, 2016 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Boulevard. Private interment to follow.
