Gerlinde “Linda” H. Hawkins, age 85, passed away on September 6, 2024. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for more than 50 years.

Gerlinde was born on November 7, 1938 to Franz Wilhelm Muller and Friederike Muller (Hof) in Bruchsal, Germany.

In 1960 she was swept off her feet by a young GI stationed in Germany, and following a whirlwind courtship, she married Emmanuel Hawkins in Pirmasens, Germany on 26 May 1961.  They honeymooned in Paris, France and traveled the world together throughout their marriage.

Family was the most important thing in the world to her, and she was overjoyed to meet and hold her great-grandson, Tevin, before she passed.  She was also fond of a game of Texas Hold ‘Em now and then.

She is survived by her sister, Hannelore Kreischer of Bruchsal, Germany; her children, Patricia and Patrick Hawkins; her grandchildren, Milani Hawkins Vigil and Uriah Hawkins Martinez; her great-grandson Tevin Kylie Washington, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Emmanuel; parents Franz and Friederike; sisters: Christa, Elisabeth, and Mariette; and brothers Franz, Karl, Hans Dieter, and Egon.

A service will be held at 12:30 pm on September 23, 2024 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236.  Arrival at 12:15 pm is requested.

Memorials in Gerlinde’s name may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children charity: https://donate.lovetotherescue.org.

  4. It was with great sadness that I learned that Linda had taken her final journey.
For me as a little Kid she and her sister Christa were like Hollywood stars to us, when they came once in a while to Germany to visit her family at Bruchsal.
I am thankful to have known her and even more that she has given birth to my most wonderful, caring and incredibly strong cousin Patricia.
    Rest in Peace, Linda.

    Dear Patty,
I’m thankful that Lore and Linda were at least able to see and speak to each other virtually once more before she had to go.

From the bottom of our hearts we wish you continued strength and hope that we will see each other again soon.

    Love and hugs

    Nils and family
