Gladys Mae Larson
June 9, 1928 – July 17, 2015
Gladys Mae Larson died after the age of 87 with her two daughters at her side at Brookdale Village at Skyline.
She was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born of the depression era, raised in a humble home, and was one of eight children (four brothers and four sisters). She has one surviving brother, Leonard Baldwin.
Gladys married her loving husband, Lt. Col. William Ward Larson, on June 7, 1947 which lasted for 65 years. The family was stationed in Missouri, Utah, Mississippi, Kansas, Alabama, Ohio, New York, Wisconsin and also England. During these Air Force years, she had two daughters and one son: Paula Mae Layher, Julia Anne Newman, and David Ward Larson. Colorado Springs, Colorado was their last move and her husband retired in Colorado Springs in 1971.
Gladys was a devoted wife and mother and embraced helping her husband with volunteer work with Cambodian families, and doing household projects. Gladys also helped raise seven grandchildren and lived to see her seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
