Glenn Hollingsworth, 65, passed away on January 30, 2014. Glenn was a lifelong cattle rancher.
Glenn Kirby Hollingsworth was born December 23, 1948 in Pueblo, Colorado, to the late Van and Alma Lou (Taylor) Hollingsworth. He graduated in 1965 from Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, and as a young man, enlisted in the Navy as a welder from 1967-1971. He lived on a beautiful ranch in Black Forest and was an excellent horseman. At the time of his death, he owned and operated Hollingsworth Welding and Garage in Ellicott.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia (Pat) Neely of Black Forest, and his brother, Lee (Kay) Hollingsworth of Kim, Colorado. He is also survived by his nephews: Nathan, Adam, and Kirby Neely, and Avery Hollingsworth; and his nieces: Amanda Neely (Asher) Henegar and Ann Hollingsworth. Also surviving are his great-nieces: Mackenzy, Jada, Greydi, and Emery Neely; and his great-nephews: Maddox and Van Neely. Glen will be dearly missed by his longtime girlfriend, Tammie LaBrada of Rush, Colorado.
Glenn was a kind-hearted friend, brother, and uncle, whose heart was wrapped around the little fingers of all his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He would take them on horseback rides whenever they asked; sunshine, rain, or snow. He’d saddle up horses for them at the drop of a hat. This past summer, he took great pleasure in hosting an outdoor wedding for his niece Amanda, on his ranch. When it was mentioned that he surely had gone to a lot of work, he just grinned and said, “Nah….all I did was mow a path down to the creek.” He also made an enviable pie for every family gathering. It was just a “given” that Glenn would bring the pie!
Glenn had many good friends and a large family of siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him greatly.
In honor of Glenn, the family will host an open house on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 2:00- 5:00 p.m. at the Neely’s home.
