Glenn L. Plush
Glenn L. Plush departed this life on December 31, 2013 surrounded by his devoted family. He was a native of Colorado Springs born on February 14, 1933 to Glenn and Olive (Fouts) Plush, Sr. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1951 and served 4 years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Knowles Plush, whom he married on January 8, 1955. Together they raised six children, Cynthia (Greg) Jahn, Ronald (Charlotte) Plush, Mark (Cathy) Plush, Robert (Stephanie) Plush, Tina (Brent) Barney and Tim (Michelle) Plush. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Betty) Plush and Phillip (Kathy) Plush; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Donald and Richard Plush and sister, Rita Padgett.
He was a Journeyman electrician and member of Local IBEW 113 for 55 years and was a city electrical inspector for 7 years prior to his retirement in 1999.
He was a faithful member of Divine Redeemer Catholic Church for 57 years, serving in numerous ministries including Parish Council, The Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts, Young at Heart Senior Group, Little Parishes, Fall Festivals, and Collection Counter.
He loved the mountains and enjoyed camping in his trailer and fishing with his family and friends. He was an avid reader and sports fan. He and Shirley also enjoyed travelling during retirement.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7th at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 N. Logan, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909. Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. A reception will then follow at the Divine Redeemer Church Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, St. Mary’s High School, or Gentiva Hospice Care.
