Gloria Dean Taylor-Wood, 78 years old, passed in her home on November 7, 2024 in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she had been a resident for 55 years. She was formerly a resident of Virginia. Gloria was a homemaker for 20 years.

She was born June 14, 1946, to Norman Downing and Lottie May Nock-Downing in Accomack County, Virginia. On April 16, 2002, Gloria married James L. Wood, Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“Sister G” as she was also known as, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She also loved gardening and valued her time outside. Gloria was a member of the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. She attended high school in Virginia as well.

Gloria is survived by her husband, James Wood; daughter, Tessie; son, Edwyn; Sisters, Margie Young, Grace Ridley and Lillis Brittingham; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; Brothers, Norman Jr. and Kenny Downing; and her son, Eddie Taylor.

A visitation for Gloria will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 10:00AM, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00AM, at Fountain Valley Baptist Church, 500 West Alabama Avenue, Fountain, Colorado 80817.
