Gordon Ray Swisher, 88 years old, passed away on March 26, 2019. He had resided in Colorado for almost 50 years. He served as a minister for the majority of his life.
Gordon was born on March 6, 1931 to Alonzo Ray Swisher and Kathel (Kimmel) Swisher in Richland Center, Wisconsin. On June 15, 1960 he married Sharon Cline in Rockford, Illinois.
Gordon (Papa G) was fond of making jewelry with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and meeting new people. He attended Harlem High School and graduated in 1949. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and served as a missionary in the Bahamas from 1953 to 1960.
He is survived by his children, Gregory, Shawn, Jeramy and April; and his grandchildren, Kianna and Logan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Swisher.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on April 13, 2019 at the Crestline Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 720 Crestline Dr., Colorado Springs, CO. A reception will be held at 5:30 PM at the Hillside Community Center, 925 S. Institute St., Colorado Springs, CO.

14 Apr 2019I am so very sorry to hear of your’s and many many other’s loss. Gordon was one of those life long friends that stay friends although many miles apart. It was a privledge to be on his “wall” of friends. Gordon is missed very much. The Swisher family is in my thoughts and prayers.

27 May 2020So sorry to see Gordon has passed. I knew him as a kid back in the mid 80s. He was a good soul and I’ll always remember him well. He taught me the word “ornery” which I had know idea what it meant at the time. It stuck with me and I think of him whenever the word comes up.
