Greg Steidinger
6/16/1957 – 3/8/2018
Gregory Lee Steidinger, age 60, passed away surrounded by his loving family at the caring Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs on March 8, 2018. He was born in Fairbury, IL on June 16, 1957 (Father’s Day that year) to James Steidinger and Fern Wilkins Steidinger.
Greg attended schools in Fairbury, IL and Beason, IL. Greg graduated from Beason High School in 1975. He went on to attend and, in 1977, graduate from ITT Technical Institute in Evansville, IN where he met his wife, Starlyn Clark. Before parting ways, Greg and Star raised two amazing sons, Justin and Cody Steidinger in Colorado Springs. Being a father to his sons was Greg’s highest priority and greatest joy.
Greg pursued a career in ground-breaking semi-conductor engineering. After 35 years in the industry, Greg retired from Atmel as a Device Engineer.
Greg loved and felt a connection to Colorado and the Rocky Mountain way of life. Greg was a talented guitar player and avid blues guitar connoisseur. He shared his musical talent and quirky sense of humor freely with family and friends. Music and nature were always a big part of his life and heart.
Greg is survived by his two sons: Justin Steidinger and Cody Steidinger, one granddaughter, Bailey Steidinger, all of Colorado Springs; parents, Fern Donnan (David) of Beason, Illinois and James Steidinger (Joann) of Fairbury; his brothers and sisters: Deanna Steidinger Osmonson of Austin, Texas, Laurie Donnan Allender (Jim) of Swansea, Illinois, Susan Donnan Joyner (Gary) of Escondido, California, Nancy Donnan Kuithe (Steve) of Nashville, Tennessee, Steve Donnan (Jennifer) of Greenville, Illinois, Eric Steidinger Ward (James) of Ukiah, California and Michael Donnan (Edwin) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Cathy Coleman of St. George, Utah, Christopher Coleman of Fisher, Illinois and Paul (Jodi) Coleman of Fairbury, Illinois; as well as thirteen loving nieces and nephews spread all over the country.
Greg was an active member of his Colorado Springs community and played an instrumental role in saving the greenspace in his neighborhood. It is the Dr. Frank Houck Park. Greg and his beloved dog, Alphie, hiked daily at the park.
As a memorial, the family is making arrangements to dedicate a tree and bench in the neighborhood park. Donations can be made to Greg Steidinger Fund, 4720 Flintridge Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
