Hans was born in Brooklyn New York to Swiss parents Adolph and Anna Ras. He grew up and lived in Switzerland until 1948; Zurich, Basil and Lugano. Hans worked for Goodyear International as a sales representative traveling North Africa, living in Algiers and Tunis. He later worked for American Can traveling Europe and Central America. Hans spoke several languages and enjoyed reminiscing about all of the places he had lived and visited; always with an interesting story of fun filled adventures.
Hans has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1969. He loved traveling the South West US with his wife Elizabeth; and was a “professional snowbird”! Hans loved nature and hiking in the mountains. He loved his backyard and wonderful garden with pond, and the animals that would come to visit. Mostly Hans loved to be with his family, grandchildren and laugh with us in our fun filled family adventures.
Hans will be missed by his family and is survived by his wife Elizabeth; son, Robert; daughter in law, Lee; daughter, Denise; son in law, Tim; and grandchildren, Elise, Casey and Nicholas.
A small private family service will be held in a “celebration of Hans’s life” at a later date.
The family would like to send its sincere thanks to the Evercare Hospice staff for the wonderful care they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evercare Hospice of Colorado Springs.
